Akhenaton Blake Byron Mencken Nietzche Twain Voltaire Others

I love quotes. They're parts of someone else's life experience that you can package up and take with you. I get a lot of my quotes from a website called The Quotation Center. This is a great website with a huge database of quotes from all corners, and a search engine to help you find them.

These are simply some of my favorites. There are many, many more out there.

Akhenaton:
"Indulge not thyself in the passion of anger; it is whetting a sword to wound thine own breast, or murder thy friend."

"Say not that honor is the child of boldness, nor believe thou that the hazard of life alone can pay the price of it: It is not to the action that it is due, but to the manner of performing it."

"True wisdom is less presuming than folly. The wise man doubteth often, and changeth his mind; the fool is obstinate, and doubteth not; he knoweth all things but his own ignorance."

"As the ostrich when pursued hideth his head, but forgetteth his body; so the fears of a coward expose him to danger."

"Be thou incapable of change in that which is right, and men will rely upon thee. Establish unto thyself principles of action; and see that thou ever act according to them. First know that thy principles are just, and then be thou."

"Labor not after riches first, and think thou afterwards wilt enjoy them. He who neglecteth the present moment, throweth away all that he hath. As the arrow passeth through the heart, while the warrior knew not that it was ."
William Blake:
"The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

"No bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings."

"The hours of folly are measured by the clock, but of wisdom no clock can measure."

"Fun I love, but too much fun is of all things the most loathsome. Mirth is better than fun, and happiness is better than mirth."

"Cruelty has a Human Heart,And jealousy a Human Face; Terror the Human Form Divine, And secrecy the Human Dress. The Human Dress is forged Iron, The Human Form a Fiery Forge, The Human Face a Furnace seal'd, The Human Heart its hungry gorge."

"The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity. . . and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself."

"When nations grow old, the arts grow cold and commerce settles on every tree."

"A truth that's told with bad intent beats all the lies you can invent."

"The fool who persists in his folly will become wise."

"I was angry with my friend: I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow."
Lord Byron:
"All are inclined to believe what they covet, from a lottery-ticket up to a passport to Paradise."

"No ear can hear nor tongue can tell the tortures of the inward hell!"

Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert...Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
